Privacy statement
SOCKSHOUSE B.V. · Last updated 15 August 2026
This statement sets out what we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it and what you can do about it. It is written to be read, not to be skimmed past.
Who is responsible
The controller is SOCKSHOUSE B.V., Larenweg 48, 5234 KA 's-Hertogenbosch, Nederland. Contact support@sockshousenl.baby or +31 73 6496666 for anything in this statement.
What we collect and why
| Data | Why | Legal basis | Kept for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Name, email, phone, delivery address | To fulfil and deliver your order and to contact you about it | Performance of a contract | 7 years — Dutch tax law requires it for transaction records |
| Order contents and value | To supply the goods, handle returns and meet accounting obligations | Contract and legal obligation | 7 years |
| Contact form messages | To answer your question | Legitimate interest in answering customers | 24 months |
| Team order enquiries | To quote and supply | Steps prior to entering a contract | 24 months |
| Email marketing address, if you opt in | To send occasional email about the range | Consent | Until you unsubscribe |
| Shift Match answers (duration, footwear, condition) | To produce a recommendation in your browser | Legitimate interest in a usable tool | Not stored on our servers; 6 months maximum if ever recorded |
What we deliberately do not collect
- Your occupation or employer. Shift Match asks how long you stand, what footwear you use and how cold or humid it is. It does not ask what you do or who you work for, and there is no field for it anywhere on this site.
- Anything about your health. We do not ask about medical conditions, and we ask you not to send them to us. We are a sock shop; we have no basis to process health data and no ability to advise on it.
- Card details. These are handled in the payment step and are never stored by us.
Marketing is kept separate
The consent to process your details for an order and the opt-in for marketing email are two separate checkboxes at checkout. Neither is pre-ticked, and declining marketing has no effect on your order. Every marketing email has a one-click unsubscribe.
Who else sees your data
- The carrier delivering your parcel — name, address, phone for delivery notification.
- Our payment provider, in the payment step, to take and reconcile payment.
- Our hosting and email providers, as processors under written agreements.
- Our accountant and the Dutch tax authority, where the law requires it.
We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing. Where a processor is outside the European Economic Area, transfers rely on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.
Your rights
- Access — ask for a copy of what we hold about you
- Rectification — have inaccurate details corrected
- Erasure — have data deleted where we have no obligation to keep it
- Restriction — have processing paused while something is disputed
- Portability — receive data you gave us in a machine-readable format
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interest
- Withdraw consent — at any time, without affecting what was lawful beforehand
Email support@sockshousenl.baby. We respond within one month. There is no charge unless a request is manifestly unfounded or excessive.
Complaints to the supervisory authority
If you are not satisfied with how we handle your personal data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch supervisory authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (AP), Postbus 93374, 2509 AJ Den Haag. You can also complain to the supervisory authority in your own country of residence.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Access to order data is limited to the people who need it to pick, ship and support orders. We keep records of what was collected and why, as the AVG requires.
Automated decisions
Shift Match is a set of fixed rules that runs in your browser and produces a suggestion. It makes no decision with legal or similarly significant effect, and it does not profile you.
Children
This site is not intended for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. Anyone aged 13 to 17 needs the consent of a parent or guardian to order.
Cookies
Cookies and similar storage are covered separately on the cookie page, which also explains how to refuse them.
Changes
We update this statement when our processing changes. The date at the top shows the current version. Material changes affecting existing customers are notified by email.
